Maison Poirier
This 200 year old sympathetically renovated cottage is situated in the heart of the cognac and pineau producing region in a small hamlet close to the village of Migron, approximately 20km NE of Saintes and 15km NW of Cognac. You will receive a warm welcome on arrival, by the owners, who will be available to ensure you have an enjoyable and memorable holiday.

Accommodation
The spacious accommodation sleeps up to 8 people comfortably. Internally, on the ground floor, there is a lounge with satellite TV and video, CD player and an extensive library of reading material and videos. Through the lounge and into an open plan kitchen/dining room that has a dining table that seats 8 people comfortably and french doors leading into your own private courtyard. The kitchen also has a door to the courtyard and has facilities that include, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, cooker, microwave, and washing machine. To complete the ground floor layout there are 2 spacious bedrooms, 1 with double bed and 1 with twin single beds, shower room with basin and WC and a further separate WC. On the 1st floor there is an extra large bedroom with 4 single beds and an en suite shower room with basin and WC.

External facilities
To the rear of the cottage is your own private courtyard with private access and covered parking for your car. There is a clothes drying area and an eating area with garden furniture, BBQ and feature Well. To the front of the cottage is the main courtyard which leads to the mature gardens where you will find the 10m x 5m roman ended swimming pool that has ample sunloungers and parasols, and is fenced for your security. Overlooking the pool is the stone built summerhouse with traditional Charantaise fireplace providing a BBQ facility. It has a comfortable seating area for protection against the hot summer sun, table and chairs for al fresco dining, fridge for keeping your drinks chilled and CD player for your musical entertainment. Games and leisure facilities include, childrens playhouse, pool table, table football, table tennis, croquet, badminton, darts, pétanque and last but not least bikes (child seats and headgear are available).

Additional Information
All bed linen is supplied and pool towels only can be made available on request. Iron and ironing board is provided. Cot, high chair, baby bath, etc. available, if required. You will receive a Welcome Basket on arrival. Free taxi service to the local restaurant available with prior notice. The property layout with all its main rooms located on the ground floor is ideal for guests with mobility difficulties. Thinking of moving to France? Activities
The Atlantic coast is only an hour away with its amazing beaches at Royan, Ile d'Oleron, Fouras, Chatalaillon Plage and Ile de Ré. Alternatively, you can take advantage of the local countryside, walks in the vineyards or woods surrounding the hamlet, or cycle the myriad of peaceful lanes. The park at Cognac is a must for the kids. Try canoeing or fishing on the Charente river, or visit the superb Aquarium at La Rochelle and Zoo at La Palmyre. For the Golf enthusiast there are courses at Cognac, Saintes and La Rochelle.

The Charente-Maritime with its exhilarating micro-climate, offers much interest. You can explore the Marais Poitevin (Green Venice), visit historic towns such as Angouleme (45 mins), Poitiers (75 mins), Saintes (20 mins), La Rochelle (75 mins), the Cognac distilleries (15 mins) or even Futuroscope (90 mins). There are numerous good (and reasonably priced) restaurants in the area and the superb local markets offer an amazing range of fresh seafood, farm produce and cheeses.
